Permanence and Immortality
The outer surface of these
large tombs was treated with an outer casting of carefully dressed stone.
The outer casting of stones of pale white
limestone reflected and refracted the dazzling rays of the desert sun.
The final capstone at the top of the pyramid was
faced with gold.
This smooth surface gleaming from the sun intimidated grave robbers for years, ensuring permanence and a
peaceful life for the ka.
