Gothic and Romanesque Cathedrals
Both Gothic and Romanesque Cathedrals feel and look overwhelmingly spiritual, suggesting the
extreme power of God and the church.
Cathedrals also tend to be large not only for seating purposes but also to make church attenders feel small and helpless, even exposed in order for the church to remain in control.
The goal was to create taller and narrower Cathedrals with restless upward pointing movement so to draw
the eye towards heaven.
